Natural gas is primarily comprised of methane. Methane has a higher energy content than most other fuels.
Methane and natural gas burn much more cleanly than oil or coal. Natural gas combustion releases almost no sulfur dioxide, small amounts of nitrogen oxides, virtually no ash or particulate matter, and lower levels of carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, and other reactive hydrocarbons.
